First things first: If you want your blog to have larger captions, you need to pay for it, a WP expert told me yesterday. Beyond silly. After eight years of free blogging? No, I don’t.
They wish to make you desperate enough with their lack of options so that you pay. Apparently I have chosen an executive theme and they wish to milk me. It makes one almost embarrassed to be “rich”.
Sounds familiar? The whole world is running on this basis: how to make you desperate and take your money. It’s getting tiresome to evade all the schemes and keep the peace of mind but watch me. I’m making my executive decision.
Ahh, I need a little green soothing. Here is my green gallery from the new About me where other two galleries are lurking: one blue, one yellow-brown-stone with a splash of pink.
Unlike there, I will attempt captions here, and you tell me if you have any trouble with them or with anything at all on my blog.
Vaguely Japanese but in Slovenia. Red boat on green? Check. Bestia in zen mode. From the roof. Mother’s good fairy slippers. One of my dream houses at Lake Burano. A fleeting memory from Florence. Forma viva on the Slovenian coast. Not as soft as it seems. Yield. One of the first signs Tuscany gave me. Smiling bestia in flowers. The rabbit, not smiling. My parents’ kitchen view in Piran. A new-found pavilion. It’s up and down in Piran. The colours of a Prague subway station. Stol in Slovenia, my last high mountain. A surprising moth on a kiwi leaf. Tiber in Rome on my first visit in 2012. Tuscany in May.
And now the rant is over and we shall be as we were: chill and to the point. Welcome to my new blog!
For the last two months and more I’ve been posting every day since I decided to showcase old posts in my blogging memories at the end of each post. This will go on.
As for the rest – just like in life – nothing is certain. Except that Slovenia is ready to play Spain for the first place in their group at the Olympic Games in an hour. Elimination round on Tuesday. It’s going to be a fun week.
After all, as that blonde girl from the first (or second?) Slovenian Big Brother famously said: “The show must go.”
Finally, I wish to thank my first twenty followers who found the button even before my first official post. This is what I call loyalty. Here you are, in no special order: Dad, Snow Melts Somewhere, Bojana, Sly, Lynette, Kerfe, Teresa, Sue, Sherry Felix, Bonnie Rae, Tgeriatrix, Roy Noon, Deborah, Nes Felicio, Andrea, Sarah, Ann-Christine, Dilip Nair, Claudia McGill and Smitha V.
This day in my blogging history
Congratulations on your new blog.🎂 I didn’t notice anything wrong with your captions; looks good to me. Enjoyable photos. 🙂
Thanks for the shout-out. 🙂

Thank you, Lynette. I’m used to bigger captions but we will manage. I love the big photos in this theme. Welcome!

All that green sure is calming even in photos!
Best of luck with the new blog!

Thank you kindly, Deborah! I’m a bit concerned because Dan says he can’t comment. I hope it can be fixed.

The captions look great. Oh, how I love that overgrown pavilion. I think it encapsulates the blog name: an embarrassment of riches. Also the stairs in Piran: wonderful. Much lovely green here. I hope you work out any bugs quickly and get used to this new blog theme – even in its free state.

Thank you, Crystal. I love the big photos so much that I’m willing to handle any issue that the theme brings along. So good to have you aboard for the ride!

Wow. So good, Manja, but that stone pillow stole my heart today.

Thank you, Bojana! I had no idea of the existence of this stone bed until my parents took me to this Forma Viva above Portorož, even though it’s been there most of my life. It’s special! Good to have you here.

Thank you, K. I bought these for mom without her along and she was amazed how well they fit. 🙂

Congratulations on the new blog and thank you for the shout-out.🙂. Each of the photographs here are frame-worthy . Slovenia looks stunning! I absolutely love the photograph of the staircase in Pirana, Bestia in zen mode, Tuscany and your dream house. Seeing this post was such a beautiful way to begin my day.
The first few lines of this post made me laugh. It’s so true. Everyone out there, especially now is trying to find ways to make money out of you😀.

Thank you, Smitha! I love it that you feel these green photos and that they speak to you. Slovenia is a very green country. One of its tourist slogans is “The green piece of Europe.” Here’s to beauty in our lives, especially first thing in the morning. 🙂 Welcome!

That slogan is perfect for Slovenia. Thank you for letting me know🙂

Thanks for the shout out 🙂 The new theme and captions look good to me but for some reason as I type this comment one of your photos keeps suddenly opening – I have no idea why but it’s a complete pain! Can you sort that?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thank you, Sarah. I have encountered this problem on one blog only so far. Others have said the same about my previous one. I cannot do a thing about it. It happens after you view my photos in the gallery mode. I hope they fix it one day. I think the best solution is that you refresh the page after viewing the photos in the gallery and before you write the comment. After that the pain should be gone. 🙂

Thanks for the tip, I’ll do that in future 🙂 I do like the theme and it shows off your photos well. Do you use the standard WP gallery to display them?

In this one the type of gallery is called “masonry”, in my today’s post I use “stacked”.

Congratulations, Manja – love to be one of the first to find you again! And I hope you have framed the bestia photo when looking down the road and the whole landscape opens – I would have…

Ahh, a wonderful thought of framing this one in particular. The photo is a bit dark though. It would need a kind of editing that I’m not able to do. Thank you, Leya! 🙂 So good to have you near!

😀 Maybe if I ask you kindly, would you care to send it to me? Please? I love that photo. Touches my warm dog heart and the meaning of it all… Life I mean..

Oooo, what a lovely thought. ❤ I course I will send it to you. It's not very big though, I think it's from my first digital camera, a Canon, and I didn't know I needed to choose the largest format for best results.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous photos as ever, Manja! (My predictive text keeps changing your name to mango by the way :-D) Love the red shoes, the rabbit and the stairs (sounds like the title of a novel?)
Hope you’re well 🙂

Ha! It’s a great title for a novel, or for my next blog… 😉 Oh, it could be also “Mango Manja”. 😀 Thank you, Sunra Nina, I love to have you on board. You give good vibes. To new victories! (Slovenia has reached top 4 in the Olympic basketball tournament. A huge deal for us.)

Yes! Team GB are doing great too. I’m hypnotised by the high jump! It looks so superhuman, it blows me away.
Thank you! 😊 You are a good vibes spreader too. To new victories! Onwards and upwards! (she says, imagining herself as Braveheart galloping on a horse whilst carrying a torch).
Until next time, Mango Manja! (that could be your Manga character) 😄☀️

Okay, Manja, I just hit the Follow button. 🙂 Don’t want to miss the photos and words. I loved the stairs and the way the photo pulls you in and up. I could easily see myself exploring where they lead. Also, I couldn’t help but think when I looked at the two photos of Bestia that I’d like to be a dog out in the woods for a couple of hours just so I could experience the world the way they do. –Curt

Ahh, thank you kindly, Curt. 🙂 This is an atypical time for me, on a holiday in Slovenia, but tomorrow I’m going back home to Tuscany and I’ll be more active in blogging again, especially visiting others. I’m so glad that you will stick around and that my bestia made you wish to be a dog. 😉 Always welcome!
