Last photo of August 2021

This time around the last day of the month was not just a little special, since my friends Crystal and Pedro touched down on the 31st August. I took them to eat sea food in Fiumicino and to see ruins in Ostia Antica. Perfect first day, and even Flavia managed to join us in Ostia.

I have zero time to explain it all, just this: these three may be REALLY the last photos ever taken, with this camera, that is. Crystal has gifted me her old one and this will be my number one camera from now on. It’s twice heavier though so I’m trying to figure out how to lose this half a kilo. I need to wear lighter clothes.

Here are the last three photos of our great day from the parking in Ostia Antica. Be well, we are more than just that.

Last photo in August.

Here are the rules and they are simple:

1. Post the last photo on your SD card or last photo on your phone for the 31st August.
2. No editing – who cares if it is out of focus, not framed as you would like or the subject matter didn’t cooperate.
3. You don’t have to have any explanations, just the photo will do.
4. Create a Pingback to this post or link in the comments.
5. Tag “The Last Photo”.

    1. Thank you, Bushboy. I know, incredibly lucky! This is a major archaeological site (I think only Pompeii are larger) and we only walked a small portion of it. It was my first time and it was fascinating. Also, much lower heat than I imagined and no visitors.

  1. How fun a new camera! Don’t worry to much about the weight…it’s relative as the longer you use it the easier it will get to use and carry. Which zoom lens do you think you want for it? The 24-120mm is a great all-a-rounder.
    Have fun with it!

    1. Thank you kindly, Deborah! I still find it hard to believe. What a gift! I only noticed the extra weight on the first day. I’m glad for any suggestions on the lenses. I’ll keep in mind 24-120mm. Thank you! (I googled it now and see that the new one is about 1000 dollars. Damn!)

      1. Oh no, that won’t do! Do you get email from Nikon? If not you should sign up, and go look to see if you can get a good price on a refurbished lens. Look into that and see if that’s the way to go for you too. 😀 Now, you’re shooting DX so the lens with the same angle of view on your camera is the 16-80mm lens. That’s equal to 24-120mm on your camera body.

I bought my 24-120mm full frame lens refurbished from Nikon directly at half the cost of a new one when they were having a refurbished sale. If my wide angle 20mm isn’t on my camera the 24-120mm is.

      2. Oh, I had two of those 18-55mm’s! I sold the first one, and missed it so bought another one. It’s a great lightweight travel lens, and it has a wonderful minimum focusing distance so close ups are easy and a pleasure to shoot with that lens. I hope it serves you well for as long as you need it, and you have fun with it and your new camera. It’s quite the gift!

  2. After I initially left a comment I appear to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time a comment is added I receive 4 emails with the exact same comment. Is there a way you are able to remove me from that service? Cheers!
