To make it a bit wordy, here is something that put a big smile on my face this week.
Every month Visual Verse puts up an image and invites the world to write between 50 and 500 words to it. Through the month they keep publishing selected pieces until they reach 100 of them.
When November started and a new image appeared, I thought to check the October issue and sure enough, there is my piece, as the final, 100th selected contribution. This is the fifth time I made the cut.
Below you can see how it looks on their website. All 100 pieces can be found here. Thank you, people. Honoured and surprised.

Very ugly. 🙂
I love your contribution, Manja. Congrats and keep sending subs in. You never know unless you try, do you?

This is so true, Bojana. And yet I have not subbed anywhere else, even though you have given me so many lovely suggestions. Thank you for all your support. I hope you’re well. (Covid in my family now, but nothing major. In Slovenia tests are almost 50% positive now. Ugly!)

Oh, sorry to hear it. We have 60 deaths per day. I doubt you can beat that.

Not a contest! 18, but Slovenia is tiny. Hospitals running out of beds.

We ran out of doctors. Facilities are the least problem. They either died or left the country.

It is. When the state doesn’t care for you, you make sure you care for yourself by going where you’ll be more appreciated. Simple as that.

Those flower seem to be bowing down…in appreciation perhaps? And your food photos always make my mouth water. (K)

Thank you, K. Appreciation is a kind and optimistic thought to have while looking at these sunflowers. The food photo may be mine, but it’s my sister who cooks. 🙂

My daughters are much more avid cooks than I, although I enjoy it.

Congratulations to you, Manja! **why, yes, I do know someone who has been published.**

Hahha, barely that, Lois. Reserve this term for someone with an actual book. 😉 But thank you, it made me super happy.

Yes, you are certainly a poet, and others see that since this is the fifth time you’ve been selected! Congratulations on the recognition. I’m glad you continue to write poetry.

Thank you kindly, Crystal. Well, you can submit either poetry or prose, or even something in between. I’ve done it all. This last one is more prose, no? But it doesn’t matter what it is, I’m just grateful that someone liked it. 🙂
