I will privatise this post and show you happy moments with my family and with amore and his family, as we celebrated birthdays, Christmases, New Year’s Eves, victories, weddings, marriages and farewells. Except this year and the last there was nothing except one major online party for my 50th.
We start with some of my birthdays and the big 7-0 of each of my parents. Then there are a couple of card-playing moments and my farewell party before I moved to Tuscany in 2013.
After that we cross to Rome where we celebrated every Christmas with amore’s family until last year. Next we move to Slovenia and look at how we spent a few New Year’s Eves in Piran and had a few pre-Christmas celebrations in Ljubljana.
And finally, there are two wedding celebrations at the end, one Italian and the 50th anniversary of my parents.
As you can see, I miss my people. This December no Slovenia again.
And if you wish to see what we ate, wait until Friday. Have a wonderful December!
How old was I here? 4? Look at my beautiful mom and my two good fairies – grandmas. Photo: Dad. That escalated quickly. 😀 For my 40th I invited my friends on a hill in the country. My poet friend brought firewater. Here I turned 45. We had a lovely dinner in Orbetello with my visiting parents. Photo: Amore. For my 49th I came to Slovenia and bestia was my best friend again. “Finisterra” at Kodeljevo Castle in Ljubljana. Last May was my 50th and instead of driving around on a bus with my people as planned, I had them all on my screen. Better than nothing. When dad was 70, we celebrated in Piran. When mom was 70, nobody believed it. Here is the surprise guest star at her party and the moment she first saw him. One of top three rappers in Slovenia, Klemen Klemen. Yes, she is a rapper too. A blast from the past. A moment from 2008 when I won one of my card tournaments. Same year at a card players’ picnic. We first played together online and then started to get together for real. My farewell party. Vasja sang for me a cover of an Italian song with his lyrics and then showed his true colours on a t-shirt. One of our first Christmases together in Rome. With amore’s father. Don’t tell him he’s on my blog but this picture is too cute. Amore’s family is quite big. A few years later the tree got smaller and Barbie got naked. Bestia is always festively adorned but he hates the noise. One of our New Year’s Eves in Piran with mom and her brother, my travelling uncle. Party time! Let’s dance! Bestia is getting ready to jump on them. Mom got a present from amore’s father. While uncle got these and was even happier. A pre-Christmas party in Ljubljana. Father with his present and his brother, my other uncle. This is how we feasted. And this is my minimal Christmas décor. My first (and only) Italian wedding. I was NOT the wedding photographer. These two make good role-models how to make it last. Two years ago we celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Grič near Ljubljana and meanwhile the restaurant acquired one Michelin star.

So much to celebrate, and you certainly make the best of your days, even during the pandemic. Such great memories too. I love the photo of your father-in- law with the dog in the Santa hat. It was cute. And wait….your mom is a rapper too? Or did I read that wrong. So cool she got to meet Klemen. Donna

Hihih! Well, she raps for friends and family, not nation-wide. 😀 Thank you! Oh yes, we can certainly party.

Thank you, Curt. Bestia is very much a member of our pack. 🙂 You call me Maja and I’m reminded of Maja the Bee. Did you get to watch this cartoon series in the States? I think it was German.

I sort of got that Bestia was part of the pack/family. Grin. As for calling you Maja, that’s me typing too fast, Manja. 🙂 And no, I am not familiar with Maja the Bee.

Love your online photo albums, honestly. Soooo good!! Can’t believe you were 50 this year! You’ll have to have a party in person when you get a chance! Your mom never fails to be hilarious. Love the photo of her with the wrapper. Plus naked Barbie! LOL. 😀

Ah 50 was last year. This year I was forty-11. 😀 I refuse to add a year properly until I can have my party. Thanks, Sunra Nina. That Barbie fell from the sky in amore’s father’s garden in Rome (that is, from an upper floor). I had to look at the post to see which wrapper you mean, and then realised it was the rapper. Hahhaha!! That photo cracks me up. He finally met my mom. 😀

Ha ha ha! She is hilarious. You should absolutely mark the transition with a party, 50 is too special not to. 40-11, lol!
