December 8th will forever be marked by the birthday of my friend in England, the birthday of Jim Morrison, and the death of John Lennon.
This day in my blogging history
2018: We have
sunk to new heights,
climbed to new depths,
created perfect landing places,
and now we live as if waiting
for the load to drop.2019: Birthday in the sign of orange
Grandpa might not be good with names
but he could make a mean goulash.
So when you came by while I was out
and left me a basketful of goodies
it was with deepest respect for all that’s good
that he replied to my inquisitive glance:
“Who left it? Your friend, you know the one,
with hair like goulash.”
That’s a gorgeous place to hang out in. The vines look lovely in red.

Thank you, Deborah. The light was wrong where I stopped. The sun was behind the vineyard.

‘the one with hair like goulash.’–isn’t that the most wonderful description? That bears thinking on for a long time. I love it.

Beautiful vines, Manja! I never remember the date of John’s death but I do remember how shocked I was at the time. Today was the 1 year anniversary of the only death from Covid that touched me deeply and personally.

Thank you, Jo. Uuuh, hard. Now they will be forever joined, these two deaths. Sorry to hear about it. I hope your people are all recovered by now!

Thank you, K. The light was wrong but I didn’t care. My new lens is different than what I’m used to. Photos are even more like paintings now.

Love that poem, love how it echoes grandfather’s character.

Lovely poems and photos. What a great Beatles / Stones / Doors quote too, absolutely apt!! 🙂 I like how the photo of your friend has arm coming out of her head that is also level with the horizon!
