Thursday Doors 9/12/21: Holiday doors

Today a mix of happy doors with a cheer, a tree, a light, a bird or a bestia.

I’m really glad that I forgot to post these two special door gifts from Oregon last week since they fit perfectly in today’s post. Every day when I’m gifted a door is a holiday. Crystal sends the first two photos from Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve. A bird sanctuary could hardly have a better gate. Thank you most kindly!

What follows is the friendliest and most welcoming Roman door which I used to pass regularly and always cheered me up.

The rest is a mix of doors from Italy and Slovenia adorned for holidays in one way or another, in riches or modesty, from one hometown to another, ending in bestia who only wishes to return to normal. Soon, dog. Happy December!

  • A few extra lights at home. But the heart is always here.
  • Hi, bestia! I know. It will be over soon.

    1. Thank you, Timeless Lady. As said in my post, these two photos were taken by my friend in Oregon, Crystal, who visited me here in Tuscany and Slovenia in September. I was so glad that she sent me this gate recently. It’s gorgeous.

  5. That gate to the bird sanctuary is such a delightful door, Manja. I love it. All the doors are lovely. I love the building along the river and the photos of the singing building. I also like that you included the little decorations on the doors. We have an ornament very much like the little bell.

  8. I love how you say that when you get the gift of a door it’s a holiday! ❤ The bird preserve doors are well-liked. I'm SO glad I showed you and you decided to share them with your blogger world. I think your bestia in the last pic looks quite Kris Kringle-y with his white beard and red collar. I love that tree on the door that is made of sticks and decorated with red balls, and I like the singing doors. I especially love the Ljubljana market door. Makes me want to walk in.

    1. Correct, Crystal. It’s a doorliday. 😉 Thank you for thinking of sending it to me and letting me post it. It’s just marvellous. I’m super happy to share it. I don’t know who Kris Kringle is though, must google. If you look again, you’ll see that it’s not really a door, that supermarket photo, just a window. 😉

      2. In Slovenia he is called Božiček (“little Christmas”, since Christmas=Božič). But when I was growing up, we didn’t celebrate božič. Instead we had Dedek Mraz (“Grandfather Cold”) who also brought presents, just on New Year’s Eve at midnight. 🙂

    1. Hahah, no, I’m not talking about me. 😀 That was an old commercial, probably for a wedding studio or ring manufacturer or some such. Thank you, Emille, I like that tree on the door too. And the first fence was a door gift from Oregon.

  17. I love the archway leading out into the crazy garden with the sculptures in the fountain. This morning on my walk I noticed someone had created little mouse hole doors at the bottom of trees in this green space and I thought of you. I feel bad for not taking any photos but it was such a wet morning, I marched on.

    On another note, I wonder why The Doors called themselves The Doors? 🙂
