PPAC: Piran 7 – Art mix

When I was gathering photos for this series, I already knew which photo will be the last in the final post. I’ll let nature win the art contest.

But before the last one let’s have a look at all the little and big art pieces in Piran which are not murals, not church art, not Safet Zec’s amazing paintings, not writings on the wall, not the three statues, and not the lighthouse and the rocks, all of which I showed in my previous posts in this series (with the links added under the gallery).

This is the art that remains. All these photos were taken this summer. Clearly I have eyes for all sorts of art and do not hold back. Welcome to the final Piran art walk with me, amore and our visitors from Oregon. I feel so incredibly lucky that they were able to come over and visit us in Italy and that we could see a bit of Slovenia as well. See, 2021 was not all bad.

Whereas 2022 is for survivors. I say, bring it. Let’s do this.

A Slovenian in Italy for love. Blogger, photographer, translator and would-be writer who would be a writer if she wrote. Plus reluctant but emerging poet. Beware.

  1. Manja, I love Piran. What a wonderful journey you have taken us on. Each picture just as scintillating as the last. I had to look a second time to see you and your mother. It was like looking at a figure/ground photo. All perfect choices for PPAC. You’ve taken us on two wonderful journeys of public art. If I remember, you joined us for every week. I can’t imagine what you have up your sleeve for the next series.

    1. Ah, Marsha, thank you kindly. 🙂 I’m glad you’ve enjoyed this series. I’m pretty sure I’ve taken part every week since the start of this challenge for real. It might not be another series soon, but I’ll definitely keep posting each week. Be well!

  2. It has been fun seeing so many of your photos that I recognize. Even the doctor and painter, I can picture in my mind where he lives. I’m glad that others have seen your photos and are drawn to Piran like I was. You said the Abbey photo was not so much art, but ah, I am drawn to the art in the architecture. The image of Jim reminded me of a documentary I recently saw called Val, by/about Val Kilmer, who played Jim in the movie. The documentary was quite interesting and a trip down memory lane.

  3. There’s art everywhere if you open your eyes and look. Reading your post has made me want to look for art around my neighborhood too. It would make the walk interesting. Piran looks like an amazing place. I love how you always manage to share such interesting posts.

  4. Snapshots into the divine, Manja. And a wise poem at the end. One’s peace is at another’s cost, I suppose. Maybe there is always a cost to peace? You’ve given me food for thought. Hope you are well.

By the way, I saw your poem up at Visual Verse yesterday, congratulations! A very clever bit of wordsmithing 🙂
