Here is the last door post from my June daytrip to Koper with doors surrounding Carpaccio Square which seemingly grew overnight.
In my teenage years I used to visit Koper often, even more often than Piran, and yet when my poet friend and I turned the corner, I couldn’t believe my eyes. A pretty square with arches and colourful bars grew there as if overnight, no matter how old these arches really are. This is Carpaccio Square and most of these photos were taken sitting down in Bar Miramar.
If you are in the neighbourhood, search it out, but then do continue to Piran. After a week in Ljubljana I will return there tomorrow too.
These are some arches. How could I not notice them in all my 50+ years? The square is shady and cosy. At least one fountain. Possibly by now it has gone dry since on the coast water is scarce. The neighbour on the left was Ethnic House Baščaršija, which is the most famous street in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. As if from a bike. The view to the right. Wider view with some of the tables of our Bar Miramar. The elderly Brit, who occupied this table, tumbled off his chair after clearly having everything from the menu with this wine and beer as last. I love the colours. This is where I started to notice that something is wrong with the light meter in my camera. The sea is right there. More doors on the way to the bus station. And one with the stylish scooter for goodbye.

That seems like a delightful square. I had to laugh at “as if on a bike.” I love the colors in these photos. I can see why the temptation was great to collect your doors from a table. I think I’d do the same.
Have a great week, Manja. I’ll see you here when Thursday Doors returns on the 25th.

I love those colours too! How splendid that you were surrounded by so much colour. And how astonishing to not remember seeing the arches, or worse – not having ever seen them. Nice to have the gift of them now, though.

I love your focus on this one beautiful plaza. You are helping us to see the details. The arches are indeed lovely; how they frame the marina and sea caught me by surprise! And, yes, the array of accidental (?) color among the tables and chairs is very pleasing. So glad to linger there with you!
