Last month ended with the following four photos. I was thinking no drama for a change, alas, the final one says it all.
Let’s start innocently, with the last photo from our daytrip with my uncle before he returned to Slovenia. Our day ended with a non-filtered Ichnusa, my uncle’s favourite beer, and a freshly squeezed pomegranate juice in “Mojito”, a bar by Lake Bolsena.

The last September photo with my phone was taken during a storm. Bestia is in his anxious mode. I took this photo for my father.

Let me include the last photo I saved to my computer in September as well, because it’s a bit special. The image below by Omar Musa was chosen by Visual Verse for their September writing challenge, for which we are to write between 50 and 500 words and hope to be included among 100 featured pieces. I made the cut for the seventh time.
Here you can find my poem “The Plan”, here are the 100 selected works, and here are my all my seven Visual Verse publications so far. Let me repost my poem under the image.
THE PLAN
Manja Maksimovič
“That said,”
concluded Leppard Matt
as he woke up in his bed,
the farthest from tired as it gets,
“the plan is set
and nobody sees the net.
I will continue to move
unobserved
step by step,
without even the moon’s reflection
off my back,
and pounce at will,
while humanity muses
over dreams
and anxiety,
regret
and the internet,
and kill.”
And finally, the dramatic part. This is the last photo that I received in September, taken by my father from his hospital room with the view of Izola and his lunch. He complained that there was no dessert, which I took as a good sign. He has been there this past week for Covid pneumonia and will be released any day now. So much for his Hollywood career, but he won a lifetime Oscar.

Bushboy’s Last on the Card rules are simple:
1. Post the last photo on your SD card or last photo on your phone for the 30th September.
2. No editing – who cares if it is out of focus, not framed as you would like or the subject matter didn’t cooperate.
3. You don’t have to have any explanations, just the photo will do.
4. Create a Pingback to this post or link in the comments.
5. Tag “The Last Photo”.
I hope your father feels better soon

All of these are great Last Photos Manja. Each tells its own story. I am so happy that Dad and bestia have survived and I would complain of no dessert as well 😂
I love your poem and can see why it was included in the Visual Verse publication. Thanks for joining in 🙂 🙂

I’m sorry to hear your father has been ill, but it sounds like he’s on the mend now. Your uncle doesn’t look too happy with his beer in that shot!

Manja!!!! Apologies for being so absent. I’m going to attempt to catch up with you. I hope your dad’s okay now? What a lovely view he had! Did he get any dessert in the end? 🙂
It was nice to read your VV piece again. 7 times!!! You will always outdo me with VV. I shall enjoy trying to catch up with you, ha ha!

Thank you, Sunra Nina, for coming over and worrying about my dad. 🙂 Yes, he is fine, making his own desserts again, maybe slightly healthier. I haven’t submitted to VV for a few months. Maybe again this month.
