Here we are in the new doorway of 2023 and I wish to display some gifts in the shape of door photos from Bratislava, Istria and Oregon, which I received last year but haven’t posted yet.
No photo in this post was taken by me.
The first three photos are from Bratislava, the capital of the Slovak Republic, by way of my friend Ajetam. We used to sit together during geography lessons in primary school, gaze at our atlases and travel in mind. She started to travel before I did.
Next, my parents went on a trip to several Croatian villages on the Istria peninsula near the Slovenian border. The photos in the second and third row are from the disused Casa Ceppi in Čepić. In the fourth row are the Šterna cemetery doors with the St. Cantius church door.
The first two photos in the last row are from Piran in Slovenia where the door is accessorised with a blooming Capparis spinosa. Yes, the edible caper. I took some photos of it as well but father caught it in just the right moment.
And finally, the last photo is from Crystal in Oregon (here is her beautiful Good Things Jar post). She often sends me special doors. She says that one of the owners of this wine bar that just opened near her is from Slovenia. This explains the carnations and the word Soča. This is (arguably) the most beautiful river in Slovenia (called Isonzo in Italian). Crystal saw the river on her visit in 2021, and I hope she gets to enjoy the bar as well.
I wish to thank them and everybody who has ever gifted me a door or thought of me when noticing a nice door.
And most of all thank you, Dan, for running door things for us, and thank you, Teresa, for the pretty self-made door drawing which was voted our new Thursday Doors badge and which you can see at the end of the post. Hurrah!

Thank you, Teresa, for our new beautiful badge!
Welcome to a new year of doors, Manja. As always, you have a wonderful collection. The wine shop and bar does look inviting. You know me, I’d love to see pictures of that river. The door you featured is my favorite today. I hope you have a great weekend.

Thank you, Dan. Oh, I have posted many photos of Soča and even wrote a poem for her. The poem is here: https://manjameximoving.wordpress.com/2019/04/18/thursday-doors-18-4-19-day-18-by-the-soca-river/ But the photos in that post are lower down where it already loses its unique blue-green colour. Alas, it may be that the colour would have been lost on you. 😉

Apparently, I had forgotten that post. I See that I liked the railroad bridge then (as I do today). I enjoy reading your poetry.

I, for one, thought of you when I recently posted some doors! I always look at yours but rarely comment because I’d just keep repeating “nice door!” 🙂

Thank you for posting a link to my Good Things Jar 2022 post. I love how you have inspired others to send you door photos. You have all these extra eyes around the world, looking out for you. It reminds me of the young eyes that Sherlock Holmes employed. Here’s to many extraordinary doors in 2023.
