This is indeed a door post, even though the featured photo is of the first blooming tree I ever saw on Christmas.
Not quite true: on previous Christmas I saw the same fruit tree in bloom, just that the photos I took were rather bad. Monteverde, the hospital and residential area of Rome, is where amore’s father lives and where I walk the dog when we visit.
Today’s photos are from one day in November and two days around last Christmas. Alas, unlike in last week’s photos, the sun was in hiding on all occasions, that’s why the effect is a bit sad, tired and lonely. Barely any Christmas decorations. The graffiti and protest signs don’t help, nor do boar (seen but unpictured).
Oh right, and there are some doors here and there too. Which reminds me that I need to go out and fetch some more doors. Winter is coming. Or is it spring?
Hi there. I thought the sign says “esperanza”. No hope. Experience. This is where the tram can take you to Trastevere. On one hand it seems like autumn. On the other, it’s spring. This kind of untimely signs are pretty but disturbing.Oranges and blooms. Plus a flowering banana tree. Motorcycles and blooms. And a gate.More of the same, just forbidden. Some flowers are not really real. This garden has lost its black cat but there is another visitor. Do you see her?Don’t worry, kitty. Bestia is just in transit. Not in the same garden, but living free throughout Rome.An abandoned tower. The door is still pretty. Ugly but someone changed it into LOVE (AMORE) and added a heart. Is healthcare in shambles everywhere? “Healthcare collapsing, lack of personnel, murderous shifts!”Just a balcony. I may have posted another photo of this same door last week already. And this may not be a real cat. (I couldn’t tell for sure, that’s why I took the photo.)But hey, whatever.
A Slovenian in Italy for love. Blogger, photographer, translator and would-be writer who would be a writer if she wrote. Plus reluctant but emerging poet. Beware.

I was scrolling down and I hadn’t seen the close-up. So I opened the picture and started searching for the cat. I was going to brag about having found it when I saw thew close-up. Oh well. I was surprised to see it up there. I do like the color in many of these. It makes me feel like spring is coming. When does that season normally start to arrive? In any case, I don’t find these as dreary as you suggested. If you want dreary, we have plenty. Cold rain. There are days I wish it would snow, simply because it makes everything look better.
Thank you, Dan. Sorry for spoiling the cat search. Around our home the trees start to bloom in February. We shall see if this year they hurry up. Just earlier there was some thunder and what fell could be described as icy rice. It surely looks like it. There is not much of it though. But it’s around freezing point, which is the first in this winter. I wish you a good weekend too.
Thank you, Teresa. Lovely to see you around. If you missed my last week’s post, I thanked you for our new wonderful Thursday Doors badge. It makes me smile every time I see it. Well done!
Oh sorry for the late response, Manja. There are times that I don’t see your post. But if I remember I try to go back in time. Thanks so much, glad you liked that door!
Thank you, bushboy. I’m afraid that you cannot go in there, it’s shut tight. Also, it’s a part of the hospital complex. Who knows what used to go on in there…
Very interesting and eye-catching photos. Together they tell a story. I love the teal door and the green bird ones the best I think, though they are all good. 🙂
Thank you, Bonnie Rae. I saw your door with the Jim Morrison quote on FB. 🙂 I think he nicked that thought from somebody else, might be William Blake (as one does). Excellent that you’re inspired!

Thanks for the info, Manja. Our trees shouldn’t start blooming until late March or April. We always worry that a warm spell will start them early.

Can you imagine what that poor tree is thinking? Why am I blooming at Christmas. It’s going to freeze my blooms off. 🙂

Thank you, Brenda. 🙂 I’m glad you get a story out of it, and that you don’t mind that there are not as many doors.

Always enjoy your photos and I felt especially drawn to the arches. I just did a “door doodle”. I’m inspired to do a few more!
