Thursday Doors 19/1/23: Rome – Monteverde 2.

This is indeed a door post, even though the featured photo is of the first blooming tree I ever saw on Christmas.

Not quite true: on previous Christmas I saw the same fruit tree in bloom, just that the photos I took were rather bad. Monteverde, the hospital and residential area of Rome, is where amore’s father lives and where I walk the dog when we visit.

Today’s photos are from one day in November and two days around last Christmas. Alas, unlike in last week’s photos, the sun was in hiding on all occasions, that’s why the effect is a bit sad, tired and lonely. Barely any Christmas decorations. The graffiti and protest signs don’t help, nor do boar (seen but unpictured).

Oh right, and there are some doors here and there too. Which reminds me that I need to go out and fetch some more doors. Winter is coming. Or is it spring?

  1. I was scrolling down and I hadn’t seen the close-up. So I opened the picture and started searching for the cat. I was going to brag about having found it when I saw thew close-up. Oh well. I was surprised to see it up there. I do like the color in many of these. It makes me feel like spring is coming. When does that season normally start to arrive? In any case, I don’t find these as dreary as you suggested. If you want dreary, we have plenty. Cold rain. There are days I wish it would snow, simply because it makes everything look better.

I hope you have a nice weekend!

    1. Thank you, Dan. Sorry for spoiling the cat search. Around our home the trees start to bloom in February. We shall see if this year they hurry up. Just earlier there was some thunder and what fell could be described as icy rice. It surely looks like it. There is not much of it though. But it’s around freezing point, which is the first in this winter. I wish you a good weekend too.

      1. Oh sorry for the late response, Manja. There are times that I don’t see your post. But if I remember I try to go back in time. Thanks so much, glad you liked that door!
