Last for now, that is, just for now. Make no mistake, I plan to return there this summer or even for Easter.
But until I do, here is the last reminder from this summer what a beauty Piran is and how many spectacular doors and views it offers.
We start with the mysterious hole in the hill which has changed considerably since 2015, when the first photo in the gallery was taken. The second photo shows how it is now. I should have checked if it was locked and where it was leading.
Then we continue with doors and arches, a restaurant and a special door guardian, all taken last July, and end with three night-time August shots. The very last photo is of the fancy Palace Hotel in Piran’s neighbour Portorož, the Port of Roses, which I rarely mention for several reasons. If you are a bit posh, you might prefer to stay there to Piran. Not me.
Hole in the hill in 2015. Wrong way? The same hole in 2022. Yes, the sea is just opposite.Another celestial one. Or merely grey? No, because this is grey. A door and a palm.Arches and doors, this is how you spell Piran.A do-it-yourself arch.Holiday home of the Blind Association. They can feel this lovely light though.A special door guardian.I had to zoom in.This restaurant, Gostilna Mario, has nice door neighbours.A wider view. I might have eaten here once a long time ago.Oars, in case you need to paddle home.A ghost door is always welcome.Let me add some postcards because Piran is pretty as a picture. The view across the Gulf of Piran towards Croatia. The last arch before the Tartini Square. The concert and cinema venue on church grounds. Waiting for some jazz by Wckd Nation, one of my last two concerts. The view of the Tartini Square from the church. And this is half an hour away on foot. Portorož, a whole other world.
A Slovenian in Italy for love. Blogger, photographer, translator and would-be writer who would be a writer if she wrote. Plus reluctant but emerging poet. Beware.

I do prefer the old door at the Hole in the Hill, but the reflection is nice. Both doors are grey, or, as we say here, gray. Thanks for the close up of the guardian 🙂
It’s cool to see the view across the Gulf toward Croatia. We have doors from Croatia form Steve(Scooj) today. It seems he was in Croatia near when you were in Piran.
I love the views of the Square and the music venue. I can see why you plan to go back.
Some fantastic views and doors, Manja. I like the stone ghost door as I really like stone. I also like the hole in the hill door and the green set a couple rows down.
Bonnie Rae, not my idea, this expression. I’ve heard it around among Thursday Doors crowd. But actually it has to do with the tax on doors (and windows) that used to exist. Imagine that.

As always, a fantastic collection, Manja. I confess I am curious about the hole in the hill and what secrets it might hide. –Curt

Great doors Manja. Someone has a special hideaway in the hill. No particular favourites this week. The view across the square is lovely 🙂

Those first two photos are quite a transformation! You definitely need to see what’s inside.
I love the ghost door, and the bright green shutters. (K)

A ghost door. Who knew? I love everything about that. What it is. What I imagine it to be. The stone. Very, very cool *
