Here is another chapter in the door photo story from the castle by the lake with a curtain, a ceiling, an “invisible” door, a bed, and of course plenty of doors.
Greetings from Piran in Slovenia! I was sly and prepared these photos in advance back home, because I knew that my laptop would create problems again, and I would not be in the mood to be online anyway.
Most of what I see online irritates me as it is: Twitter is now an X, the daily weather forecast for Slovenia reads as a horror nightmare collection, only lava flow is missing, plus I have learned that I will not be able to watch basketball World Cup on TV at all but only online for an extra fee, so I just stay away.
There are other things to do. The sea is lovely, my parents too, and yesterday I went to an ethno concert with my sister, amore and friend, and it was raining on us, it was cold, the storm went on in the distance behind the stage, but it all added to the atmosphere. The organiser bought us schnapps – for the cold – and told us they had had a storm in the morning and had to decide by 1 pm whether to cancel the concert. Despite all he allowed it to go ahead because, as he said: “I am a partisan.” There you have it, Slovenia in a nutshell.
But the photos are from back in May when an open-door day called me to the Orsini-Odescalchi castle in Bracciano. It’s a gift that keeps on giving, and not only doors. Today we end up just outside the library where we will end the series next week. As for today, just look at these curtains.

I’m kind of intrigued by the lampshade in the ‘hidden door’ photo.

Great intro, and what an extraordinary building. So much wealth, creativity and craftsmanship from a time gone by. Great if you were wealthy I guess.

Slovenia in a nutshell. I hope you don’t get lava, but I wouldn’t be too surprised.
My kids like to play ”the floor is lava”, maybe it’ll prepare for future survival skills with all the havoc climate change is bringing 🧐 (Hope not! This is a half-joke)
