Let’s pretend you come to Ljubljana by train and have half an hour to spare until the next train. This is what you could see, dragons first. But I hope you’d stop for longer.
First, a reality check: new glasses and a new haircut. In case you run into me.

This afternoon I need to go back to the IT service to complain about my new keyboard. The following nine keys q š đ s d g j , . sometimes stop working midsentence. Always the same 9 keys.
Tomorrow Robert Plant has an acoustic show in Koper 20 km from me and I don’t even check if tickets are still to be had.
On Saturday Luka and Slovenia play their World Cup game. I wish them all the luck.
But now, today’s doors and stuff. One week ago I left Piran and reached Ljubljana by bus – central bus station is next to the central train station – to have lunch with one friend and go to the card tournament with another. I had an hour to kill so I went on a little walk around my city of origin, and felt exactly the tourist that now I am.
All these photos except the last three are from my 30-minute walk. There is a cinema I used to love but now they killed it, or so the street says. There is a street where my mother used to live since her grandfather worked for the railways. There is a courtyard I never entered in all my 40+ years living in Ljubljana but now I did.
After that I had barbecue lunch in “Portal” by the Ljubljanica river where a loud bunch of geese took me by surprise. They let them wonder around and all. Luckily for them, I didn’t see any goose on the menu.
The day ended in Škofljica, a small town south of Ljubljana, where we had our tarock tournament. I was reminded that playing live is nothing like playing online, and the outcome was not the best. But then I noticed a barn with curtains opposite the road and cheered up. How polite.

Such a pretty city! I’m sure I’m being a stereotypical tourist, but I will never get tired of the dragons!

This is a lovely city, Manja. I love the tour. I’m amazed that you covered all that ground so quickly (but I’m glad you dd). Sorry about the tournament outcome. As my teams frequently say, there’s always next year.

I’d like to spend more than an hour in your city. With or without geese, Manja.
