I’m a day late again and the reason why is hidden in the cinema in this town with the church. It feels like flu. Today finally no more fever.
It was Sunday morning and I went to the cinema to inquire and hopefully buy the ticket for the afternoon screening of Oppenheimer. The town Borgo Carige is a fraction of our mother town Capalbio and a film festival was closing that day. To my surprise I was informed that I could not buy the ticket because the screening was free! As a gift to the town. Ahh.
I was advised to come well before 6 pm when the show was on, half an hour, better 40 minutes early, because of the crowds. I came indeed 45 minutes early but, as you will see, there is not a single person in any of my photos. The crowds forgot to come.
An organiser from that morning told me he was sorry but I said: better this way. In this way I could circle the church Chiesa del Cuore Immacolato di Maria and take photos of all its doors and one brilliant window, which I didn’t do in ten years living fifteen minutes away. Nor was I ever before in this cinema, or in the restaurant between the two.
Aventually there were maybe five rows of people and one of them gave me what I call flu. At least it feels like all the flus of my life. Boring as hell. But today the fever finally left, I hope for good. At least I can type without feeling seasick. In fact, I think I’ll have some ice-cream.
As for Oppenheimer… It may be that my flu was a direct result of that explosion. Watch at own risk. They won’t tell you how many of those watching from too close got sick as well. Three hours of that can mess you up.

The church in three parts and a cross.
They like this shape in Italy.
Well protected.
I didn’t dare to take a peak in.
The view from the door towards a monument, but I forgot to have a look what it was about.
Immaculate.
The sideview.
All along.
A pretty side entrance.
That’s a marvellous window.
All together.
Another door on the church property.
And the last one.
The boar from the name and sign of this trattoria is not the chef, more likely the main course. Cinema is in the back.
Opposite.
Joyful.
Cinema Paradiso, said a friend when I posted it on Facebook.
I really like this splash of blue.
The look out.
By the time it started all these seats were full. Some elderly guests came with woollen shawls. They knew why. Three hours of air-conditioning…

I am sorry you were sick, and I am glad to hear that you’re feeling better. It’s interesting that you were able to get such beautiful doors that have been so close for so long. I think we all tend to do that. Anyway, you have a beautiful collection today. Feel better!

So fun to get surprised with a free movie. I’m sad that the theatre was not packed for the occasion, but then, who knows what additional little germs would have been carried in. As I have already told you, I am sad that you got sick from it, and while your Uncle is there. Glad to know it seems to be running its course and is on the way out. I find the church very pretty and I like that multicoloured window. It seems like it was a nice place to spend a few hours so close to home.
