Thursday Doors 9/11/23: Proceno Castle 3.

Today we descend from the roof and snoop in the garden around the rooms to let. We meet a turtle and, of course, some doors and gates.

Two weeks ago I left you on the roof of Castello di Proceno just outside Tuscany in Lazio which I visited on an open-door day in May. Now we look around and get back down. Going down I didn’t take nearly as many photos as up. I think I was being extra careful not to miss a step. Taking all today’s photos took twenty minutes.

Once back in the garden, I felt really good and was again sorry that my home is about an hour away so I don’t need to spend the night. But when you visit, you can. The favourite moment was when a turtle made an appearance.

In two weeks the final part of this series will come with some doors from the town. Be well.

  1. The roof and the view from the roof are spectacular. The photo of the baby drawings is my favorite. Beautiful composition, Manja. Great turtle capture and I love that black metal gate. The fruit door might not lead anywhere, but it’s beautiful. This would be a nice place to stay.

  2. Some lovely doors, and a fruit door, excellent. In England, we call turtles tortoises. For us, turtles are the marine species and some of the freshwater ones, that aren’t terrapins.
