Here we go, the last month of the year is here and with it my twelfth but not yet last calendar post. Before the year is through, I will select one photo per month for the final Calendar 2021 post.
Yes, I am aware that 2023 is just around the corner, but I still need to do away with 2021.
Last December was just like this one is unfolding: some scenic skies, some storms, one shopping trip, one birthday and Christmas in Rome.
Around here, it’s subdued. This is a good term to describe me right now, thanks, Sunra Nina. Nothing happens and yet time is running so fast. I don’t read, don’t write, don’t even watch films or series (just basketball), nor take many photos or blog much.
Right now I’m waiting for the package that my parents had sent us with homemade goodies before dad had to go in for an urgent gall bladder surgery this weekend. All went well. After years and years of no hospital for him, twice this year. I bet he is not amused. Especially when they served him this after two days without any food (no, I’m sure he grinned):

And now to last December in twenty photos. I wish you all the best in this year’s. Have a wonderful month of old ends and new beginnings.
Autumn colours linger in December. A secret spot by the lagoon. My tree friend, rosemary and my fur friend. Amore’s gift was delivered early: a fisheye lens. For my Christmas shopping I chose the perfect afternoon. At the start of my drive I had a companion. I forgot what we agreed this bird was but it clearly doesn’t care what we agree on. I parked to see if I can find the bird again but it was gone. The tower in Ansedonia at the northern end of our 12 km beach. Giacomo Puccini bought it and lived in it for a few years but the harsh winds and smell of the marshes drove him away. He died soon after. He had a good view though. Orbetello on the lagoon 15 minutes from home. The Monte Argentario peninsula with its 17 beaches, of which I’ve only been to three. The Orbetello Cathedral in the best light. The colour has not been altered. The square around which I did my present shopping. These two celebrate on two consecutive days before Christmas. They are the same ago too. As I said in that tweet, I sure know how to pick them. 😀 (Who is that on the left? Eddie Vedder, the singer of Pearl Jam.) Strolling in Rome again after a long time. (This and the next two taken with my phone.) A new door spotted in Monteverde. Christmas in Rome with the cat host. Sadly, she went missing this summer. Happy 2022, we said on New Year’s Eve and for the most part it has been. Only bestia knows that each year ends with a bang, not a whisper.

Oh, Manja, what a lovely bunch of photos you give us. Heartwarming, educational, and beautiful. I get lost in the compositions and perspectives and colour spectrums. I’m glad you share your lens with us. Fascinating about Puccini!! That he stayed there and suffered for it. I wonder if he composed anything while he was there. I think you spend your time well 🙂 ❤
